24 Animals That Get Confused Easily

You know that our world is very big and there are many types of life around us. This may sound shocking, but there are about 7.7 million species of animals on our planet, with only 12% of them formally described. Most of those catalogs live on animal land and mankind still wants to go a long way to fully explore the oceans. With such an abundance of life-forms, it is not surprising that people confuse some animals. To be honest some of them look really similar. We hope that this article will help  clarify some confusion of the most common animals who like same.

ALLIGATORS VS CROCODIES

Both alligators and crocodiles belong to the same order crocodiles. Actually, both species have a lot except one thing - their salt tolerance. Crocodiles are fortunate masters of specialized glands that emit excess salt, as they feel absolutely at home in a saltwater habitat as well as mangrove swamps located close to the coasts. For alligators, their salt glands are not so well develop so they mostly live in sweet(fresh) water.

You should also pay attention to their head size.

In the most cases, although there are some exceptions, crocodile jaws are V-shaped and alligators  have a U-shaped muzzle

JAGUARS VS LEOPARDS

Both of species are speckled  and both are really big cats..

The ability to identify these two spotted prowlers is unlikely to make you any safer, should you encounter either one in the wild, although the elements that distinguish a leopard from a jaguar are interesting to say the least. Jaguars are thicker than leopards,

With a compact, stiff musculature and a large head. This is fitting because the leopard is considered the smallest of the four big cats. Both creatures are capable swimmers, although leopards will avoid it where they can. Jaguars have almost similar spots to leopards, but they have additional spots within their roost camouflage. And of course, the indigenous play a role in identifying the habitat that accompanies the jaguar

Being an endangered species throughout Central and South America, leopards populate forests throughout Africa and Asia.

Jaguars have small spots. Leopards are more slender and slightly smaller than jaguars. They also have long tails.

RABBITS VS HARES

Both rabbits and hares belong to the same family of leporidi. So it is no wonder that these are cute creatures who get confused the most. However, if you look at them carefully, you will be able to know the differences easily.

The hares are usually faster and larger than their close relatives. They also have long ears and strong hind legs and have large legs.

Hares usually try to outrun predators and in most cases, they are successful. You can also look at their fur to differentiate between rabbits and Hares. You will notice that there ( Hares) are some black marks on the body.

BUTTERFLY VS MOTHS(KITE)

Both these species are of the order Lepidoptera. Do you think you can easily tell a small brown or brown kite(mouth) from a beautiful lively butterfly? By the way, you would be surprised to know that there are species that look surprisingly similar.

To make sure which organism is in front of you, pay attention to the antenna. Butterflies have club-shaped antennae that appear as if a skinny shaft with a bulbous tip. For kites(moths), their antennae are either serrated or winged.

Feathers can serve as another sign.  kites(moths) have tent-like wings which they fold over their abdomen. Butterflies twist their wings vertically.

FROG VS TOAD

Both the toad and the frog belong to Anura order, but there are some substantial differences between these species. Most frogs have smooth skin while a toad skin is thick and rugged.

Frog legs are long and thin and their eyes are large and bulging. For Toad, his legs are short and his eyes are short.

If you are lucky you can see another difference. The frogs arrange their eggs in a cluster that looks like a bunch of grapes.

Finally, the seals love solitude and the sea lions prefer to gather in large companies and behave in quite noisy places, walking around with friends.

BEES VS WASPS

Hymenoptera is the sequence for which both bees and wasps are. Bees have hair. They need this feature to dip in the flowers to collect pollen, their back legs are also flat. Bees look more gaudy. The wasp has a smoother hourglass body with a small waist and its legs are soft - like a supermodel.

For the approach of these pests(insects), wasps are more aggressive, especially when they protect their nests. On the other hand, bees are quieter and more polite.

SEA LIONS VS SEALS

Both seals and sea lions have finned animals or pinnipeds. However, sea lions have large  flippers and are covered with skin. The seals have a thin web flipper and each small toe has a claw.

Seals are generally smaller and are drier in water than on the ground. You may have noticed that they like to crawl on these bellies when they come out of the water. For sea lions, these creatures can walk.

Sea lions have ears that look very small as if they are near any external ear.

PORPOISES VS DOLPHIN

Both dolphins and porpoises belong to the order Cetacea. To distinguish them, you need to pay attention to the wings and faces of their bodies. Most dolphins have pointed faces with curved dorsal fins and a thin body. Porpoise has triangular back fins with a strong body and round face.

In addition, The porpoises have spade-shaped teeth and their mouths are small. Dolphin teeth are more prominent in the shape of a cone.

TURTLES VS TORTOISES

Both tortoises and turtles are reptiles and are of the order of Chelonia.

Turtles have webbed  legs (feet) as they live mostly in water and this makes swimming easier because their shells are lighter and flatter. In Tortoises, the land is preferred. Their feet are not  webbed, which will make it harder for them to pass through uneven terrain and dig up the ground.

You will always be able to recognize a tortoise due to its heavy dome-like shell.

LLAMAS VS ALPACAS

These cuties are common in  Europe and Africa Asia, but if you see a creepy(spiky) creature in the wilderness of South or North America, it is a porcupine.

These identical toes belong to the same family Camilla De. To distinguish the difference,, first notice their size. Mature lamas are much larger than alpacas that typically weigh between 100 pounds and 170 pounds. For an adult llama, it can weigh as much as 400 pounds.

If it seems that both animals are the same size, look at their ears. Alpacas have short ears and spear-shaped llamas with long curved ears. Also a llama has a long face and is mostly hairless and has a  abit of a smushed fluffy face on the alpaca face.

PORCUPINES VS HEDGEHOGS

Both these animals are spiny. These spines are actually stiff hollow hairs. This is it. There is nothing else in these beings. Much more, even his spine was developed differently.

Surprisingly the Porcupines are rodents. Like all rodents, they have large fort teeth that usually look as if they have never been cleaned. On second view this is probably true. Porcupines use these teeth to chew on vegetation. For hedgehogs, their snout and teeth are pointed and they are omnivores - feasting on insect like frogs, plants and fruits.

SHEEP VS GOAT

It is very easy to confuse goats and domestic sheep as both species have many common characteristics. Sheep and goats are both clo-hoofs and have quite unusual eyes with horizontal rectangular pupils.

But take a look at their tails, you will see that the sheep hold them down while the tails of the goats stand proudly.

These animals have different eating habits. Like cows, sheep are grazers, meaning they move to a pasture and pick up vegetation located close to the ground. With this method, they will not have to raise their head. These animals in the form of goats are browsers choosing plants that grow up for their food.

Goats are also known to climb trees if they see some particularly attractive leaves.
